What on earth are you doing now? (200th post!)
Since becoming jobless, I've been living the dream!
Not really.
I did post a chapter each on two of my fanfiction.
Then... I kinda jumped onto the bandwagon that is called Marie Kondo. Yeah, thank you Netflix. Now the whole of Singapore is going on a decluttering spree. So far, I've only cleared out my clothes and my personal books. I've got a ton more to declutter. But on a side note, it has been doing good to my soul. On another side note, I'm doing this decluttering REALLY slowly.
Also, I went on a Netflix binge. I finally finished "Avatar: The Last Airbender" in a matter of days and I'm currently on "Sousei no Omyouji (Twin Star Exorcists)". More on Avatar another time.
Then, a friend of mine is decluttering his house (for a completely different reason from mine) and shoved me a ton of herbs, chocolate chips and essential oils that potentially might last me 5 years. So I've been doing a lot of baking, recipe researching and essential oil blending "lessons" online.
Well, it does sound like I'm living the dream. Alas, when you are my age, the pressures of society will creep up onto you. Already someone is asking me, "So... how long do you intend to be like this?"
And it hasn't even been a month! I've seen people go jobless for longer than that! Sigh. But I don't blame these people for asking. Singapore is really fast-paced and I cannot expect to live my life as a *cue zen voice* "free-spirited soul" when finances are going to become tighter. So yeah, I'll live my life carefree... but at a faster pace, heheh.
Nevertheless, my mind never stopped thinking about writing from time to time.
If my brain is not thinking about fanfiction, it is about my original.
Yep, over the course of two years, whenever I had time, I would ponder about a particular plot bunny. Not fanfiction, original. It's strange to even write that down. I've had a number of original plot bunnies, but this one has been in my mind for a long time. It's more like, two plot bunnies which I've combined, so I'm also afraid that I'm doing too much for one story. Then, there're obstacles that I'm facing, such as doubt in myself, and doubt in whether the story would actually pan out to be good. There are still a number of details that I cannot decide, and without those decisions, I cannot begin writing.
Gah, maybe I'll follow Samantha Sheffield once again and just "DO IT". I mean, I've already visited the library to do some research. I'm sure it's just a step in the right direction.
But yeah, that's pretty much what I've been doing the whole month. :)
P.S: Also, happy lunar new year to all who celebrate it. It's the third day of the lunar calendar and everyone, including myself, must go through the ritual of falling sick due to a lack of control at the sight of snacks and food. But, that's just the veeeerrry picture of prosperity, huh?
P.P.S: My 200th post, whoopee!

Days of Exile: Chapter 51
Okay, enough with the sarcasm.
We have to start off first by clarifying what I've mentioned in Chapter 51. Yes, the main plot for "Days of Exile" is over. Remember how I mentioned in this post that I've got this "brilliant plan" of writing Meia's story starting from the time that Reno found her, to the events after Dirge of the Cerberus?
Well, more than three years later, I must admit. I'm tired. My brain juices are dry from expecting this same plot chicken to lay eggs... excuse my metaphor. I kinda regret that after three years, my readers just stopped reading. It's really... sad and weird at the same time. I never stopped updating. Yes, I delayed the schedule pretty often, but I tried my best to upload one every two months, at least. Then again, I can't exactly fault my readers. I was reading some fics on my own too. Then, life got busier and I gave up reading the fanfiction of others in order to keep up with my own update schedule.

Days of Exile: Chapter 42... and crossroads.
Anyway, here's the long-awaited chapter for Days of Exile! And while I've got nothing much to talk about the chapter, let's talk about the STORY.
You see, once upon a time, when "I Want To Be A Turk!" was just a mere idea in my head, I had wonderful ideas and storylines on what I want the story to turn out to be. My plan was to write Meia's entire life, from the moment she became a Turk in 1999, to being exiled in Year 0007, to her return during the events of FF7 in Year 0008, all the way through Advent Children events in Year 0009 and possibly up to Dirge of Ceberus in Year 0012. Yeah people, we are talking about a full 13 years of Meia's life before I end the story.
The naive person that I am, seriously thought that I could finish the story within 200 chapters (glancing at the pile of files in my folder? Nope.) and I even thought I could finish this in 2012 (I started writing "I Want To Be A Turk!" in 2011). So long story short, at 63 chapters into "I Want To Be A Turk!" and 42 chapters into "Days of Exile", I came at the crossroads of my writing life.
Truth is, I have a lot of plot bunnies jumping at the back of my mind, wanting to be unleashed. However, "Days of Exile" has been taking up all my creative juices and spirit. Not that I dislike writing Meia, but I really would appreciate the change.
So I contemplated.
If I continued the way I wanted it to be (all the way to Advent Children at least), I would first complete my original dream of what "I Want To Be A Turk!" was supposed to be. Furthermore, there would be a more complete ending to Meia's story in Shinra. That sense of accomplishment of doing what I started out to do would be tremendous.
The negative consequences would be that I may end up feeling so drained and so tired beating around the same things and same nonsense, and I won't deny it. My writing may not be as good, because after all, people are used to what I can come up with. I may end up delaying the updates longer and longer... until one day I pull that stunt again and just not appear on FF.net anymore.
If I end "Days of Exile" at the part after Aerith's Holy saved the Planet, technically I have finished what I wanted to write. The main bulk of my original story covers the BC, CC and FF7 events. Honestly, I don't have much planned for what Meia would do after Meteorfall. So technically, I have written my story and I am not THAT guilty. Then, I can take a break from this world and immerse myself in writing out FF7 fics. I mean, don't YOU want to know what I have in store? (Okay, let's not get excited about it... it's not THAT great a plot bunny anyway...)
The negatives. I know I have many loopholes now. I've not explained how Meia is handling her moral ambiguity, I have not answered whether Reno and Meia will end up happy, I barely made interactions between Meia and the other canon characters in the series. Neither have I finished explaining the backstories of the other Turks, nor how Randy and Heidi are going to face Meia. I can definitely say this now. I can't explain all of those so quickly. Maybe I would disappoint some of you because you were expecting something super epic. And the truth is simple, you may not know what Meia really is going to do after Meteorfall.
Sucks, doesn't it?
That was the main question in my head since December. I could not concentrate on my writing because I was so afraid of throwing ideas out that will force me to commit. Believe me, people. I really want to bring out my best to you, but I'm scared that either choice may not turn out well.
In case you're wondering and worrying for me, I've decided on my solution already... Yes, there is a route that we are going now. Just that I won't tell you yet. Sorry! I will definitely let you know when the time draws near (at least another 14-16 weeks!). So for now... let's just enjoy Chapter 42!
Nevertheless, I thank you for being with me through my rantings and doubts. Hope you have a great week ahead!

Unpublished: How to get a firefly's attention
I'll write out my notes, word for word, every grammatical error and immaturity revealed. I'm thinking of revamping it into a proper piece and publishing it on fanfiction.net, but for now, here's the draft. Prepare to cringe.
Oh, before I forget. This story is based on the manga, Samurai Deeper Kyo.
How to get a firefly's attention
One day, a small no. of charc from SDK decides (out of pure boredom) to see who is able to call Hotaru and get him to respond. The rule is to only call by names, no longer way used is valid.
"I think I shall be judge, since I don't know Hotaru very well." said Okuni, pouting & flipping her long hair.
"And declare Kyo as the winner?" Bontenmaru demanded. "NO WAY!"
After a heated discussion, it's concluded that Okuni & Muramasa will be the judge. Hotaru was led to one corner. "Oh... hi caterpillar" he prodded the green worm.
Competition start!
*The people who will be playing are
- Yuya
- Kyo
- Kyoshiro
- Benitora
- Shinrei
- Akira
- Sasuke
- Bontenmaru
- Yukimura
- Akari
The others, like Kyoshiro, decided to sit out.
Yuya: Hotaru-kun! Hotaru-kun!
Benitora: Hey! Hotaru!
Akira: Hey to the one sitting over there.
Kyo: Hotaru! Not responding to me? He deserves to be killed.
Bonten: Yo to the slow as poke thinker over there!
Yukimura: Hotaru! Taru-chan! Ho-chan! *heart* *heart*
Sasuke: ... i'm forced to enter the competition. I quit.
Yukimura: Aww... Sasuke chan spoilsport!
Akari: Hotaru who don't like water so much that he can go 3 days without showering? Come here?
Shinrei: My stupid half brother who always pick a fight with me but shouldn't bother because I'll always win?
Hotaru: WHAT DID YOU SAY? DO YOU WANT TO DIE!
*bicker*
All: this is only achievable by sibling r/s.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
... Okay, I'm going to see how I can change this weird plot bunny into a proper-sounding one. Gosh, look at all the terrible character portrayal.
Have a good week ahead!

I Want To Be A Turk: Chapter 36
Her head was pounding when she felt consciousness again.
What happened?
I remember that I’ve barely reached the doors of the Wall Market when… Ow!
Meia groaned and felt the ache on the back of her neck.
Someone knocked me out.
“Awake, my princess?” A male voice greeted her, chilling her to the spine. Meia looked up, her eyes focusing on a group of males in a room that she didn’t recognize.
“…” She stared at the group of men who were smoking, gambling or just relaxing. As soon as the male voice spoke, the rest stopped whatever they were doing and stared at her. They tried to have their way with her but Reno and Rude suddenly busted through the wall.
Walking over to the nearest man (who happened to be Pascal), Reno grabbed him by his collar and growled. “You dare to even lay a finger on our Turk?”
“T-t-t-turk??????” Pascal stuttered.
“She’s a Turk?!?!” Pero stared at Meia.
And so on.
HAHAHA! Obviously, that's not gonna happen!
Damn it >.<
So I forced myself to write it and err... this is the best I could do.
I admit, I took inspiration from "What's This?" by inu-shinai-kirara.
the whole feeling of the men wanting to take turns... why didn't i think of that? *smack forehead*
Anyway! I'm just glad it's over.
oh yeah, moving on. This chapter experienced one of the most changes from its initial stage. It's supposed to be shown that Reno spent the night with Meia (not in THAT way!), accompanying her till she fell asleep. But i did it away because... yeah, it's another long chapter. it's hard to keep the story short to grab the readers' interest, but good to make the story of quality. i believe that if i had my way of describing every tom, dick, harry, flower and bird, the story will hit 200 chapters (WOOOOOOOOOOOOTS!)
Lucky you, I won't hit 200. maybe a hundred :P
Am I scaring you yet?
P.S: my favourite part in the whole story? Reno saying "in the softest voice that [Meia] never knew [he] could muster", "It's all yours."
